This project is establishing two ‘Repair and Grow’ spaces as part of Ffiws on two high streets on Anglesey (Holyhead and Amlwch). The spaces will provide equipment and expertise for repair and reuse to save money and reduce waste, and the use of vertical farming to grow a range of fresh crops (salads, microgreens) for use by cafes, local restaurants and the food banks. The aims are to help reduce emissions associated with food production, reduce food miles, reduce packaging and increase locally grown fresh produce. As part of this, we are building our own bespoke vertical farms to situate in these facilities with the aim of pioneering technology in the sector and engineer new designs for domestic and small scale vertical farms. Tech Tyfu Ffiws has received funding from the Welsh Government Circular Economy Fund.
